Hello! I have two questions if you dont mind.

I've worked with a russian girl for probably 2 years now. We recently just started dating, and she wants me to learn russian so I can speak with her parents.

My first question is, How hard is it to learn russian? I dont mind looking like an idiot when I Speak in russian, as long as I get my point across...I know I'll master it eventually, but until then It would be nice to be able to have a conversation with her mother...or when she talks to me randomly in russian to know what she said...

Which leads me to my second question....

what does Sladkix snov zolotze mean?

     Thanks!

It is hard to tell, being a native speaker, how difficult it is to learn Russian.  It does have a complicated morphology, but reading/spelling is easier (it is a phonetic language).

Сладких снов золотце. == Sweet dreams treasure.  I guess we all now know how far along you two are in your relationship Smile

    Good luck.

Talking same language with mother in law? No matter how perfect your language is you'll be speaking two different languages. Don't learn it. You are blessed man! You are blessed... :)

From my personal and professional experiences, it is not hard to learn another language if you set your mind to it. Also, it doesn't sound like you need to read Tolstoy in Russian, so it is a fairly easy task to learn the language for the purposes you've outlined. Good luck! :)

The best way to learn russian, i think - is in the regular conversation, maybe in chat or forums. Just do it, every day - don't afraid to look like an idiot - i want to learn english too and don't has enough time to finish it. My ICQ is 350-636-822, before you add me - write to draf@mail.ru and i'll add you to my contact list (or try to keep out antispam filter - it activated only to escape spammers, not to escape you :) ).

Excuse me for my poor language experience - i am beginner, but want to learn english and to teach somebody for a russian at the same time. see you :)
