WebMistress, I believe you understand Russian. Why is English mandatory in this topic? This is the russian forum so I would have understood if we had usage limitations on all languages but Russian but in fact we do not have them. Moreover it is strange to require English then.

Alesha, question. Are you guys going to play chess all night? 'cause if not, I don't see why you can't join us... It says that karaoke is till 10:30 but pool tables are open all night.

We start at 8, it will take 2-3 hours so the earliest time we can get to the pool tables is around 11 pm. I do not think you guys will stay there much longer considering that would be Wednesday.

I'll try to make it :) Even though we have this tight schedule with sports and stuff, Wednesday night seems to be free :)

Alesha, the purpose of this website is to provide a link between people with a Russian background or interest in that area with the Russian community in Atlanta. Therefore as an employee of the website, its my job to take into consideration people who don't know how to read or write Russian- people who are just as interested in whats going on but can't understand when a topic skips from English to Russian or vice versa. Since this is an activity where ALL forum members are invited, I think keeping it in one language is most appropriate. I am aware of the chess event scheduled for Wed, but you have to make decisions in life. If you can't attend our dinner/karaoke/pool get together don't worry we'll have plenty of fun events coming up in the future. Inna, if you still need a ride come Wed PM me and I'll see what I can do.

I agree with WM. I've seen several posts that were invitations for a get-together in Russian, and I'm sure that anyone who doesn't speak or read it didn't understand a thing. This is a Russian forum, absolutely, but I think when posting events or get-togethers we shoul do it only in English to respect our non-Russian friends. --Fimchick

WebMistress, I am very well aware of the purpose of this website. We have had a similar discussion before. You may have noticed that everyone speaks English to a couple of guys who do not speak Russian (ChillianVillian, for example). As for everybody else there should be no problem as they all write or at least read in Russian. Also I think that it would be nice to let everyone use the language they want. So I choose Russian as you choose English. It is strange you have objections on that part. If you think the web site should operate in one language only then Russian is more natural in the case.

Thank you WebMistress for the ride offer. Alesha, I would have to disagree with you, because I have several classmates who aren't Russian, who visit this site, and don't have anyone to translate, at least ChillianVillian has ShEV to translate for him. I myself very often would skip messages that are written in Russian with English letters, because it's too time consuming for me to read. This topic belongs to WebMistress, and if she decided to make it in English, we shouldn't complain, you can do the same with your topic, and make it mandatory to answer in Russian. I have to agree with Fimchick, if you would like more people to come to our events post in English, because yes there are those Russian people in our community who don’t read Russian, and there are those who would like to learn about our culture, but don’t understand Russian. I had a couple of American friends come to one of our events, they had fun... but now they believe that all Russian guys are named Alex... but that's a different story. ~Inna~
